Sony HDR-HC1 HDV 1080i Handycam Review

I tend to think most applications for recording video will not be improved by widespread use of HD. Instead of crisp images, we'll get a Jonathan Swift-like view of people in all their ugly blemished and pock-marked glory up-close and filling our screens. Leaving something to the imagination is worth more than creating a High Definition nightmare. At the same time, I find it incredibly cool that HD video cameras are available at prices that make some of the consumer DV cams look expensive. Sony's new HDR-HC1 is a perfect example of this. CamcorderInfo.com offers an excellent first look at what is sure to be a competitive pro-sumer HD cam.

From CamcorderInfo.com: "If you were waiting for quality consumer affordable HD in a well-built camcorder, the time has come. At a price of under two grand, the HDR-HC1 is poised to be a big seller, and not only because it is the most affordable HDV personal video device yet to hit the market. Behind its HDV logo is a camcorder with an amazingly crisp image and performance in many conditions that lives up to this new technology's name."
