I tend to think most applications for recording video will not be improved by widespread use of HD. Instead of crisp images, we'll get a Jonathan Swift-like view of people in all their ugly blemished and pock-marked glory up-close and filling our screens. Leaving something to the imagination is worth more than creating a High Definition nightmare. At the same time, I find it incredibly cool that HD video cameras are available at prices that make some of the consumer DV cams look expensive. Sony's new HDR-HC1 is a perfect example of this.
